Magic Meow Dice

Traditional math education often fails to instill a deep conceptual understanding in students, relying on rote memorization and procedural fluency. As an instructional designer, I recognize the significance of creating experiences beyond passive learning. By incorporating elements of gamification and interactivity, I transformed a fundamental mathematical concept into an engaging adventure that sparks curiosity, cultivates problem-solving skills, and instills a lifelong passion for mathematics.

Magic Meow Dice was inspired by a simple text-based problem from an old textbook. At its core, the game challenges players to predict whether the Final Magic Number will be under 7 or exceed it, verifying their predictions through basic addition and subtraction tasks. However, what sets this game apart is its ability to foster deep understanding through interactive and explorative gameplay. By making predictions, uncovering patterns, and formulating their mathematical reasoning, players become active participants in their learning journey.
